Not as good as the first. But still a fun read. Some parts I could have gone without, but not enough to get me to put the book down.

I could complain about the implausibility of the situations that Maddie finds herself in or her increasingly silly and ridiculous behavior. Or I could tell you that once I pick up one of these In High Heels books, I literally can't put them down. I guess that speaks more than any of my complaints. Light, harmless, a good brainless read. Maddie is the kind of character that you can't help liking even when her actions leave you utterly exasperated.

The second in Gemma Halliday's High Heels mystery series, Killer in High Heels was just as entertaining as the first. It was definitely a light read, but an enjoyable one. The cast of characters was the same as in the first book of the series, and just as likable. From the indefatigable Mrs. Rosenblatt to flamboyant Marco, the secondary characters were as hilarious and fun as the main two characters, Maddie and Detective Ramirez.

I'd rate this book a 3.5 or so. There were only two reasons it didn't get a four or higher was because of the writing style. First, Halliday writes more informally than I tend to prefer, and while it is in character for her protagonist to speak informally (this series is told in the first person), it just bothered me a little more, perhaps, than it should have. Secondly, the way that Las Vegas is portrayed in this book (complete with many, many drag queens who are all quite similar) seemed very stereotyped. I've heard about the Vegas the way it's portrayed in most movies - in a novel that is going undercover in Vegas, I want to see parts of it that I haven't already seen.

All in all, though, a light-hearted, fun book. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind a somewhat irreverent, grin-inducing read.

This is the second in a series about Maddie, a kid's shoe designer, that has a hunky cop for a sort-of boyfriend. This time her dad contacts her after many years. turns out he is a drag queen in Vegas, that must be where Maddie gets her love of shoes.

While the book is good, sometimes I wonder about female characters and their ability to get into so much trouble even when asked to not do something that would land them in that hot spot. So in that respect, her character irritates me.

i enjoyed this book, but warning, the main character is dump, and i mean excessive amount of stupidity. But the humor more than makes up for it.

This book had me so excited I was flipping the pages. If I was Maddie I would of ripped Jack's clothes off with the first chance I would of gotten.

Maddie finally meets her father that left her mother and her to become a showgirl named Lola.

Fun and a bit on the cheesy sappy side. But a fun escape
