Honestly the best part of this was Patti Smith's introduction. I liked this, but not as much as I enjoyed How I Became a Nun, because this time, I was extremely and painfully aware of the male gaze and perspective, which I had a hard time looking past. That being said, the narrative was a lot more cohesive in the Divorce, and I had an easier time following (despite reading it in bursts over a period of months). I would also like to re-read this in a single sitting, as I think his books are meant to be read.

initially wasn't feeling this, but the form creeps up on you delightfully, and Aira is able to tell galactic stories in condensed forms and microscopic stories as epic yarns. Really fun kind of origami writing, that folds up on itself only to eventually cohere into a beautiful novel. still the GOAT
