this cozy story was a lovely side quest from my normal reading. the beautiful cover drew me in, but the words inside also had a beautiful story to tell. the themes of sexuality and acceptance of love in a polyamorous relationship were very refreshing, and i’m glad that while it was an important topic, it wasn’t overly done to the point where it overshadowed the plot…

…and the plot itself was so well-done. every character changed drastically from beginning to end, in ways that made them more loveable and relatable. even the “villain” didn’t seem so bad in the end, and i enjoyed having that perspective to read from as well.

weaving in slavic folklore to the plot was not only something i hadn’t seen before, but something i enjoyed greatly. the old creatures and stories, mixed with a modern-day retelling, added an extra air of whimsy that uplifted the heavier themes of the book.

very happy with this read!

The ending left me deeply unsatisfied. I like my fiction wrapped up in a neat pretty bow for me. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for a sequel

As someone who turns away from modern romance in novels, I was surprised to find myself utterly smitten by all three main characters. It took me a while to get into the story, it is quite juvenile but it is YA. I enjoyed reading about the water nymphs and pictured them much like Ariel’s seven sisters. I was so happy when they stood strong for Gisela at the end and that the author did not beat around the bush when it came to violence in this story. This was a beautiful story that romantically depicted life after death for women that meet unfortunate unnatural causes at the end of their lives. I found myself rooting for Kazic the most in this book. The ending seemed rushed though and I can’t imagine it being for a second novel. Any further installment would take away from this but I also wouldn’t mind reading more of this threeway relationship between exorcist and demons lmao.

I had zero expectations going into this, I just loved the idea of our main female character being a water nymph. Overall this was an enjoyable storyline with a diverse cast of characters. The pacing of the story was good and I never found myself bored or wanting more action.

I'll start by saying I LOVED this book. It's a cozy queer polyamory slow burn romance. It has GrumpyxSunshine and enemies to lovers. Each of the main love interests have their own set of secrets which leads to a lot of miscommunication. I hate miscommunication as a plot device but it mostly made sense here.

I really enjoyed the underlying slavik folklore elements. I feel like I learned a bit about many different mythology creatures and that was fun as it's not something I've had a lot of.

I've seen some people complain about the pacing but I didn't have any issues with it. The tension felt real and the stakes were high.

Now my main gripe and the reason I didn't rate this 5 stars is that the book left me feeling deeply unsatisfied with the ending. There were so many loose ends and I felt like this was sold as a standalone novel. I did a little googling and it appears the author is interested in writing a sequel which I hope actually goes through and I look forward to seeing ALL of the characters actually get together and what the repercussions of Aleksy's secret will be and what way he will go.
