I knew this book would be cute, and fun, and have a super sweet romance, but what I was not expecting was to finish it and be frothing at the mouth waiting for book two.

The characters in this book are so rich with feeling and history that I would happily read each of their biographies three times over, especially if we got the chance to see the wider world.

I am incredibly ambivalent about this book. The good was GREAT - extremely cozy atmosphere, amazing queer & polyam romantic representation. But wow was every character as dumb as a sack of hammers. And they didn’t have to be! I can think of about 1,000 ways this didn’t have to be an Idiot Plot driven by everyone making terrible decisions & connecting zero of the dots. I know it’s YA, but even teenagers wouldn’t miss THAT much. It also probably would have helped the pacing, which was odd and alternated between rushed with Telling rather than Showing and dragging.

I will probably keep up with this series(? I assume? Or the ending was also rushed af) because the vibes were just immaculate but I do hope there’s more storyboarding & character development in its future
