I watched the Netflix adaptation and thought it was weird as hell so I picked up the book. It's ok, I just wasn't feeling it and my reading list is so full at this point, I don't necessarily have the time or the want to finish a book I'm not vibing with. I will most likely pick this back up at a later time.

At first read, this complicated narrative looks to be a neo-noir take on Hollywood in the 90s. Once you get past the often confusing writing, you uncover an exploration of what is exploitation in all its various aspects. An interesting read, especially if you’re a neo-noir fan.

I found myself not very enamored with the plot itself, but Grimson's writing and prose. He's very vivid, describing things well but quickly. And I found myself wrapped up in the relationships he presented, how Lisa interacted with those around her seemed to be more of a focus to me than her involvement and mystery with Boro. Can't say I'd read this again and again, and it took me a while to get through because the plot wasn't very page-turny, but I still really enjoyed it and I doubt this book will leave me for while.
