Since I had skimmed through some of the other reviews before reading this book, I was not disappointed with this book since I knew what to expect. As mentioned in other reviews, this is a very short story that is part of a 3 part storyline. Otherwise, a nice fast paced adventure.

By itself this is an okay and cheesy book. FULL of cliche characters. Understanding that its a part of 3 short stories that together are more like one book help it a lot and if they're any better than I would rate this up to a 4. I'm really forgiving though.

A quick short story to introduce the Storm series.

Derrick Storm is definitely a man who wants nothing more to do with the secrets of the spy world, but unfortunately he is dragged back in by his former employer to deal with a kidnapping of a US Senator's step-son. Storm wades his way through all of the clues and information to get to the bottom of the mystery. My only complaint is that it's too short.

This was a good read. Caught my interest and kept it. Not the kind of mystery I normally like. I like getting the clues so I can try to solve it as I read, but this one withholds information till the final summary scene. However the character of Derrick Storm is great and I'll be buying the next two stories in this trilogy.

Good short story. I think I may enjoy this series more than the Nikki Heat series

Short, fast read. Pretty typical potboiler stuff with not a lot of time for character development. Honestly, I have trouble believing, based on the premise that this is the return of a popular character, that Storm is remotely likeable. Still, I'm curious as to where the story goes, so I'll read the next one anyway.

Quick spy fare. Ending left you dangling for the next installment. I am not sure I liked it as much as the Nikki Heat books (with those, I tend to picture the characters from the show and there just seems to be a greater connection to Castle)Therefore, I am uncertain if I will find the time to read the others anytime soon.

I’m a sucker, I know. I love Castle, so I’ll give everything they pump out a try. Derrick Storm is brought in either because he is the best or to take the fall for something big. The answer to this is still out. But the Senator’s son is missing and there have been two types of ransom letters. This definitely gets your detective hat twisted sideways trying to beat Storm to reason. The primary suspect is a disgruntled contributor. But I also suspected the wife, the son’s fiance, the missing son, the Senator and maybe even the CIA. I like to keep my options open. Derrick Storm is not a company man and the kind of guy I like to follow on a thriller. There many be some romantic potential with April Showers in the future. She is smart, but definitely could learn a bit from the harden veteran. This nugget of a thriller was perfect for satisfying my need for the chase.

Derrick Storm is a nice addition to the Castle franchise.
