Slightly spoilery:
I did not enjoy this book. I really really wanted to. But alas. Neither MC was likeable or really had a satisfying arc. They complained the WHOLE time. As the reader I felt like the author thought I was dumb, explicitly reminding us EVERY CHAPTER
a. That they hated each other (but that they were horny AF for each other)
B. That Corrie is HOT (seriously her boobs are mentioned CONSTANTLY)(also, this fact is the BANE of her existence and causes her so much grief and yet she loves her body (but not really??))
C. Even though this dig is the culmination of her LIFE'S work all that matters is this white dude with six pack abs

Ford DRIPS with white male privilege throughout their relationship and constantly gets away with treating her like shit and STILL gets what he wants in the end.

Ethan, Sunny, and Agnes were more engaging characters.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and though I thought it was enjoyable for the most part, I am just wildly frustrated with the MMC getting away with what he got away with all in the name of love🫠

There are just SO many white men in the world, you know? So why choose one who makes choices like *that* ?! Idk, it just could NOT be me. I’m too old, too tired, and refuse to contribute even more emotional labor to a world that I’ve already given so much. Kthxbye.

I will give this author another try because the sexual tension, banter, and unpacking of each leads’ experiences in their industry and in academia were written well enough, but the underlying conflict of this couple’s tension truly ruined the book for me. I also despise when a MMC describes his FMC as “she was so beautiful she didn’t need makeup” and though that’s a tiiiiiiiny thing, it just irks me😮‍💨
