It had been a long time since I first read this (and this is the first time I've read the re-written version), and I was surprised at the quick pace of this one compared to the original Riftwar trilogy.
Honestly? this one is fluff. But it's fun, exciting fluff that makes for engaging reading. Also, there's Nakor, who is one of the most memorable characters in Feist's entire universe.

After re-reading the riftwar saga so many times and loving it I was really looking forward to reading about Arutha's sons. Sadly I was disappointed. The plot moved too quickly and the twins weren't particularly likeable. I was left dissatisfied with the whole story which is a shame

A good continuation of the Riftwar Series, and the Kelewan Series. After the World of the Tsurani returning to Midkemia is a refreshing feel even if we follow the descendants of the old heroes in to the foreign lands of Kesh.
At times it sounds like a Romanempire, then like something out of Africa and then again like something that you wouldnt look twice at on Kelewan. An interesting land and culture that out Heroes Eorlund and Borick meet in very diffrent circumstances.

I have been Buddy-Reading this series over the last couple of months with a ‘book-club’ friend who had not read Raymond E. Feist’s work before. As I have been a long-time fan of his work, I have compared it to The Lord of the Rings books but have actually enjoyed this series more. When I mentioned this to my friend, she immediately wanted to read the series, and convinced me to read them with her- not that it was a big ask 😊.
It is an epic fantasy saga- with wonderful world building and scene setting, and dynamic, vivid and detailed descriptions that will transport you right into the story.
Take some time to explore Mr. Feist’s work, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed- and the best part is that all the books are available now to read- no waiting for books to be released! #WINNING

This was probably one of the most enjoyable Raymond E Feist books I have read so far. I loved Borric and Erland - they were fun characters who liked mischief. I also rather enjoyed the plot that came with them. A very good read!

I'm so glad I'm back in the world of feist again. I put off reading the next books after the original trilogy because I did not think they could compare as magician is one favourite books of all time and in part I was right, Prince of the blood isn't as good as the original trilogy but it follows on nicely and was a welcome comback into the series.
This book is set 20 years after sethanon but somehow loses none of the adventure and story from the original trilogy.
I enjoyed this book a lot and enjoyed the new characters, but also had a nice surprise of some returning characters.
All in all a really good stand alone book and I am really excited to continue my feist journey.
