A very quick read with short chapters makes this book readable in just a day. Going in blind, the cover alone would have you interested to know what happens inside. Once inside, you're met with 6 women... all very dramatic & several unlikeable, attending a bachelorette party in the hustle and bustle of New Orleans.

Though this book was done in multi-pov, which I am a big fan of, it felt like the characters jumped around to much and some details got lost during the story. I think because this is such a quick read and has short chapters, it falls flat on some of the details of the characters, important information, and the murder itself.

I really enjoyed reading the dynamic between each character, their baggage and red flags, and the twists and turns they all brought to the story line. And the cover is very pretty!

Overall, this is a super quick read with a good twist. I would enjoy reading more from this author.
Thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for the gifted ARC.

I've never once read a murder mystery novel where I could actually keep track of all the characters within it. Names and descriptors muddle together and throw in a hundred clues to build the answer to the mystery and you've lost me.

But this one I could not only remember everyone, but follow along in their relationships and pasts all the way through. If you're not into petty drama and such, this book may not be of interest and for me it was a little off. But I loved how it was built, starting with the murder discovered, then going back to meet our suspects to then continue in the present, yeah it was well constructed in a way that kept it interesting.

For someone who doesn't like murder mysteries normally, this was different. It's a bit shorter and straightforward than some classics, but maybe that's why I liked it.

The Bachelorette Party
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: Thriller
Format: Kindle eBook
Date Published: 9/2/22
Author: Carissa Ann Lynch
Publisher: HarperCollins
Pages: 264
Goodreads Rating: 3.75

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and HarperCollins and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

Synopsis: New Orleans: live music, endless drinks, brightly-coloured attractions, the perfect place for a party… The bride-to-be. The best friend. The cousin. The mother-in-law. The sister. The groom’s friend. The bachelorette begins on a Friday night; all six women are excited for a chance to escape their everyday lives. But then friendly rivalries turn vicious, and a game of truth or dare turns deadly. By the end of the weekend one of them will be dead…

My Thoughts: While this is the first time I have read this author, I know Lynch has put out amazing novels prior to this, so I will be looking up her backlist. This was a solid read. I loved this spin on the bachelorette party with a murder twist. I would liked to have seen more done with the backdrop of New Orleans, but that is just me. The story is narrated by multiple characters, from their point of view, at first it was a little confusing, but I got the who is who soon thereafter. The characters were developed well, with depth, many secrets, betrayals, mysterious, and creatively written. None of the characters are particularly likable, but you could relate to an extent, and that is how they are written into the story, and that is how they work together. The author’s writing style was complex, suspenseful, has a creepy element, and was easy to binge read in a few hours. The characters were well thought out, the plot was delivered into twisty layers, and the ending was whoa, where did that come from? I recommend you pick up this fast paced, easy to get through thriller next month!

Women and their “friendships” have been at the center of a lot of books I’ve read lately.  All the women are catty and very unlikable, but the book catches you by not letting you know who has died until you are close to the end.  This moves along at a brisk pace and while I guessed who died about midway through, there were still a few surprises along the way.

The gothic New Orleans setting set the perfect tone and if you are planning a bachelorette party anytime soon, I’d look closely at who you are inviting.

Fun read, twisty ending while still being somewhat believable. Reminded me of The Guest List but a quicker read and not quite as in depth with the characters. The characters in this felt like they weren't fleshed out enough and I couldn't understand why a mother-in-law would ever be attending a bachelorette.

I got The Bachelorette Party by Carissa Ann Lynch for free from NetGallery for a fair an honest review.

The Bachelorette Party by Carissa Ann Lynch tells the story of a party to celebrate the wedding set in New Orleans involving 6 people but only 5 people will be leaving.

The Bachelorette Party by Carissa Ann Lynch is a run of the mill thriller with 6 different people thrown together over a weekend just because one of them is getting married.

The novel is mainly told through the eyes of the 6 people involved in the party in addition to two others which allows the story to progress,

I know there are some of you out there who do not like stories which use multiple viewpoints hover in this case the writer Carissa Ann Lynch uses this device to, allow the reader to see multipull parts of the plot from different perspectives.

For example there will be a chapter from one person's point of view where they are complaining about an individual, then the next chapter would examine the same point but from the other side.

There are times when I write book reviews that they come easy to me as the book is ever excellent so I can praise it all the way and there are others where the book is so bad that there is plenty to complain about.

The problem with, The Bachelorette Party by Carissa Ann Lynch, is that the book is ok, in that its not godd or bad.

The main problem for me is that the plot line has been done before, the characters while interesting none of them ever build a major reaction for example i quite like the bride and her cousin, but don’t love them.

In addition, the mother-in-law seemed to be written as this cold and judgemental person going on to say that she brought the bride some maternity trousers for Christmas because she was getting fat.

The problem using the multiple point of view is that it is very difficult for us as readers to feel anything but empathy for any character no matter how unsympathetic the writer tries to
make them.

Having said all this The Bachelorette Party by Carissa Ann Lynch is still a pleasent read for any one who enjoys this style of novel.
