Loved the writing style, believable characters, funny dialogue. Felt like a movie in my head. Not overly verbose. My only critique is how the author writes black characters. Every other character gets a physical description like “light brown skin with blah blah” “alabaster skin…” but then once someone is black or has African descent it’s “the black girl”. It’s a slightly different world so I would have preferred her to stick with how she describes characters bc it took me out of the story a bit. I also had a hard time picturing Bird bc of lack of descriptions - I guess because it’s first POV but still. I just pictured a white chick with messy hair but that’s not enough to satisfy the picture in my head
I’ll definitely read book 2! The story I was very much so immersed.
Edit: after reading book 2 the character descriptions do get better. :)

the story/world has so much potential and i'm super intrigued. i didn't really like the fmc and couldn't see myself in her. i also didn't grow to love the perspective love interest. i just think i was never given a chance to do those things. there was a slight twist at the end which was good. i'm not dying to read the second one.
