I started out loving this book but it soon became a little disjointed. I realize that it is based off a letter she wrote prior to facing the firing squad. It makes me want to read more about Mata Hari.

This was a topic I knew absolutely nothing about, and went in completely blind. I'll admit that I thought she was from some exotic locale, which she actually encouraged.

The files surrounding this court case/execution will be unsealed this year (2017). It should be interesting!

A blogon: http://teklakonyvei.blogspot.hu/2016/11/paulo-coelho-kem.html

another good one by Paulo Coelho... walking the line between fiction and non-fiction and really delivering on the main character's motivations...

This is a historical FICTION, so even though it is based on the real Mata Hari, it is not a biography. I've noticed there are harsh reviews on this novel, and even if he didn't get it all "correct," whose to say for sure? We can not clear things up with her, and Paulo wrote his version, which I found interesting enough to read through. Maybe because I find her fascinating and mysterious, that I just wanted to read anything, and Paulo holds my attention. Whatever the case, I enjoyed this book.
