This is a historical FICTION, so even though it is based on the real Mata Hari, it is not a biography. I've noticed there are harsh reviews on this novel, and even if he didn't get it all "correct," whose to say for sure? We can not clear things up with her, and Paulo wrote his version, which I found interesting enough to read through. Maybe because I find her fascinating and mysterious, that I just wanted to read anything, and Paulo holds my attention. Whatever the case, I enjoyed this book.

Een interessante blik over het leven van Mata Hari. Kort en bondig, waardoor het zijn veelzijdigheid miste.

Skip the first chapter of the book, it spoils everything.
If you have never read or heard the story of Mata Hari, this novel is great for you to know what exactly happened to her, and who is she. However, make sure that you skip the introduction and chapter 1 because it spoils the whole book. I, honestly, regret reading that first chapter before finishing the book.
Regardless of that, the book is interesting to know. There are many morals that you can learn from that. I recommend that right after the book, read the pages 47 to 53 of the 48 laws of power, because it summirise Paolo Coelho`s book in a very good way.

It's an okay read. Coelho has a very minimalistic style which I generally like but in this case, I think this book could have used a more detailed account of Mata Hari's fascinating life. Nevertheless, it was a good introduction to her

Interesting but gappy as far as timeline goes. Not sure how historically accurate it really is. Took an interesting approach being from Mata Hari's perspective.
