The plot and stakes are getting even better, to the point where I actually care about some of these characters now whereas earlier I did not care if they died or not.

Alina seems more and more likable and I even started to like Mal. What is this madness? What happened around him made Mal a more interesting character, even though I still don't like his overall traits. Nikolai once again stole my heart, no surprise there. I love that man and anything he does to bits. The Darkling just gets better and better even though he's the worst. I do like the little switches between Alina and him. You can see the connection they have and the reasoning behind why Alina wants to end him.

In the end, I can live with Mal and Alina ending up together, though it's not my preferred ship. Do think this is the best book of the whole trilogy and one I'll look back on with fond memories.

This is not how I thought I wanted this series to end, but it was actually perfect. So perfect. This whole trilogy was a fun and emotional adventure and I loved it. The second book is probably still my favorite but I really liked this one too. It was well paced. I love the characters. I shed some tears. The good and bad kind. It was just a really solid ending I thought. Again, different than what I thought I wanted... but somehow just perfect.
