I do not know if I can properly convey how meaningful this book is to me. Wow. I was so lucky to be gifted this book by a dear friend. And the timing could not have been more perfect. This book was next level for me, no, next Realm of Obsession. If I could, I would rate this Infinity Stars.

Now, there were minor flaws with this book (teensy little grammatical errors and one debatable detail regarding the MMC's hair color). I'm not going to fib on that end...but regardless, this book will forever hold an Infinity Star rating for me. Starting off, I was not too sure on how I felt about Celeste or Thierry (FMC & MMC). It was not instant love for me, instead I fell head over heels with a few side characters first. Luc, Marcelle, and Justin. Their scenes wrapped me up in a huge bear hug and refused to let me go.

Then, I fell for them and I fell HARD. This story captivated me, mesmerized me, soothed my soul, sat beside me and kept me company....I can go on and on for millennia of what this book made me experience.

There are books that I have read that I accept that I will NOT come across that feeling of Euphoric Satisfaction so easily again. Books that just hit so fkng far over the Bar that it creates it's own level for other books to attempt to reach. The Isle of Sin and Shadows is now included in that record-shattering success.

Celeste was this amazing, amazing woman. An FMC, that held so much accountability for herself. Her bravery, her beauty, her capableness, her perseverance, her ability to care for others when she knew so much pain and isolation. I could continue to praise her character. She was extremely flawed and despite those flaws, she just further proved that you don't need to be the biggest dog in the fight to survive. She was simply magnificent. I loved her entirely.

Thierry was a rare MMC, one that I would love to see more of. He self-sabotaged, had suffered so much in life at such a young age, carried so much weight on his shoulders without complaint, and chose to still dream while trapped in a mental prison.

The mystery, twists and turns, language, culture, landscape, pacing, and of course the romance was one of the best baked books I have ever read. There was never a moment I felt disengaged. This is my favorite book of Keri's so far.

I also want to highlight, that this book absolutely has dark elements. As per usual, there are very graphic scenes that may be hard for some audiences to read. I would suggest if you have Triggers, to look up TW's. If not, going in blind as I did will hopefully suck you into this beautiful, dark, twisted, and exotic world Keri created.
