I was wondering what were 2 parallel plots doing in this book. Nothing, just to fill enough pages. I know this is harsh, but the bounty on Kinsey's head served nothing but extend the book. I agree with one of the previous reviews: a few loose ends. I thought it would have been interesting to know how they got solved.
1st half was a bit slow. Nevertheless, the story around Agnes Grey was really genuine.

I enjoyed her new apartment and Vera being more of a friend character. New relationship with Diez was a nice change from Jonah.

Sue Grafton does it again, she creates a compelling mystery along with a few interesting characters to follow. Kinsey is likable and makes reading her interesting.
I thought the double plot-line would be too much, but I have to agree with Grafton, it gives the story a bit more tempo and rhythm and it adds lots of action into a job that is not all car jmping and guns shooting, even if Kinsey gets a few of both.
At the beginning when Irene hires Kinsey to go into the desert I was bored, thinking long sleepless nights and days crawling in a deserted landscape, getting thirsty and all, but Grafton knows her job and she just showed what was needed from the desert to come back to Santa Teresa and attack new flanks.

The seventh book in the Kinsey Millhone series, and another enjoyable read. All of Graftons books follow the same basic set up, which makes them easy to read and enjoy.
