so i liked this book, but it didn’t quite enamour me in the way that a lot of the other dark classics do.

I still think it’s interesting and worth a read (esp in relation to its history as one of the first science fiction books) but probably not the highest priority read

It's impressive that this was written in 1898. That someone imagined hostile aliens visiting earth and wrecking havoc in a time before airplanes were invented. Just... crazy.
I already sort of knew the ending (that the martians die from lack of resistance to earth bacteria) but it was still a fun story. Pretty gruesome, too.
