I loved this book! I've been reading a lot of stories like these lately, and I have to say that I did not see the twist coming. It was devastating and well done, and I wish I'd recognized the clues Towle laid out before the big reveal!
Mia is a fascinating female protagonist, and I loved following her journey of finding her voice and her own strength. While the book has dark themes, it doesn't feel quite as dark as other books like it, as it's clear that the worst is behind Mia, and she will do whatever it takes to survive.
Jordan is a typical ladies man that we see a lot in these books. That said, while he's a womanizer (and a jerk) in the early pages of the book, he has redeeming qualities, including his unconditional love for a stinky stray dog that he adopted.
Mia and Jordan's love story was a beautiful read, and the novel definitely had the feel that it could have been the first in a series. I guess I'll just have to check out other works by Samantha Towle to fill that void instead.

that was a massive hot mess of issues....and I loved every word, the book had me shocked and sad within the first 5% and then angry, i cheered like a loon, sobbed like a baby and shouted lots of no's, happy with how the book ended :)
