Very good shouting match "I love you" declarations, generally lighthearted and fun. This is a solid comfort series for me.

2.5 stars.

Good idea for a story, but there was a little too much back and forth and miscommunication for my liking.

4.5⭐️ I love Briar Prescott’s writing, so clever, funny and sweet. This was a great wrap-up to the series.
Max and Isac face so many challenges: age-gap, bad timing, missed opportunities, family complications, and long-distance.
I blew through this book so fast just trying to find out how they would make it all work so they could be together.
Such a sweet story. I especially loved Max’s character arc. ❤️

Very cute. Lots of UTS. Issac confessed to his childhood love after high-school only to be hard-core rejected and told he's like Max's little brother. He goes to college out of state to lick his wounds and now 6 years later the two are reunited. It was fun to see Max drool over Issac and be an adorable idiot about his attraction to him. But I kind of expected more from Max. Described early on as a man who "knows what he wants, and he’s not afraid to go after it." I kept waiting for that moment that would push this from cute second chance to epically romantic. Waiting for an absolute grand gesture or rainfall of wooing. It never made that breech, but still a fun read that stood very well as a standalone.

i want to say that briar prescott physically can’t write a bad book, but this was my least favorite.
i found the MCs too similar and not too deep. this author usually makes me laugh out laud but this time not so much.

it was still a great book. i enjoyed their fights a lot, that felt real. the steamy parts. and yeah that’s it.

This book....just wrecked me in the best way. When I first picked it up, it was because I love a good brother's best friend trope, but I wasn't expecting to be so emotional as I read about Max and Isac. The prologue broke my heart and I sobbed as I read through Isac's pain, embarrassment, and desire to get away from the one person who loved and hurt him all at the same time. I could so relate to him, and I was angry at Max for hurting him in such a way. I wasn't sure how I could ever like him after how he broke Isac's heart.

But then....I read through Max's thoughts and feelings and I just loved him too. It wasn't the right time for them when Isac first revealed how he felt, but when they came together the second time it was beautiful.

I loved the way the relationship began, how they questioned what they were truly doing, how they fell in love in front of us. It was just gorgeous and messy and wonderful. I had no idea how they would ever be able to be with each other, but it was certainly clear that they did belong together.

The ending was perfect. The compromise was perfect, and the epilogue put my heart back together. I've read every Briar Prescott book written, but this is hands-down my favorite. It is actually one of my favorite books ever and I know it will be a frequent reread. I am very sad to say good-bye to this group of friends and partners, but what an ending.

"Is," he whispers, and I look at him because I can't do anything else. "I love you," he says.
I close my eyes, trying to contain my emotions, but I really, really can't.
"I fucking love you too," I say. "But-"
"No. No buts."
I open my eyes and look at him.
"We're going to make this work," he says. "Because there's no other option. Nod if you understand."

**I received an ARC for my honest opinion**

It is no secret to anyone that Briar Prescott is one of my favorite authors in this genre and so, I was chomping at the bit to read the fourth book in the Better With You series, The Inconvenient Love.

And it is safe to say that this book absolutely impressed me.

The characters of Max and Isac worked so well together. They had an intense and immediate chemistry, right from the first page. But in the first section, Briar subverted part of the age gap and best friend's younger's brother tropes. Isac is only 19, twelve years younger than Max. Max has seen him grow up and when the confession of feelings happen, they aren't reciprocated. Instead, Isac leaves Boston and we get a six year time jump.

I cannot express how much I loved this. I loved that Max's reasoning for not being interested in Isac was incredibly valid. I loved that we didn't then spend the entire book with Max being proven wrong. Instead, we got time with them apart and time for them to grow, which made the reunion between them so much more believable. It made sense that they grew apart after that. It also made sense that Max is then swept away by how attractive Isac has gotten. Because a lot can change in six years.

And this book explores the way things can change in that six years. I loved watching Max and Isac get to know one another again, restrengthening the bond they shared. I loved their worries over Anders finding out after they hooked up and I absolutely LOVED Anders's reaction to it all. Again, another subversion of a trope that made me absolutely ecstatic.

This book is also dripping in Briar's signature combination of sweet, spicy, and hilarious. It is another dual POV, low angst offering that left me with a smile. (Oh and it is also ripe with Found Family, which is one of my favorite tropes in the world.) Needless to say, this was another 5 star read and leaves me desperate for whatever she comes out with next.

** DISCLAIMER: I recieved an ARC from the author, and this is my fair and honest review. **

Max and Isac take a bit of a journey to their HEA

And so we come to the final romance, that of Max, and it's a mix of best friend's little brother and a kind of second chance.

Isac's always been in love with Max, but the one time he expressed his feelings, he crashed and burned.

Six years later, after heading cross country to San Francisco and with their friendship almost non existent, Max gets a shock and a realisation that his connection with Isac has always been more.

With this book I felt sometimes like the sexual attraction between them overwhelmed their previous deep friendship and that maybe night enough time was given to them reconnecting more than just in bed.

As this is the fourth book, we've seen both characters through the eyes of the others and they were always close.
Max realising Isac had grown up and he didnt just think of him as a pseudo little brother anymore wasn't unsurprising.

I just wished they'd had more conversation before they fell into bed!

Overall though it was an entertaining read but I think Anders and Wells still just pip Jamie and Connor as my favourite pair.

Amazing

This book is just amazing! From the first page to the last, I was just so invested in this story.
Briar's writing style is so special, just like always, and I just love this series, this book, this characters.
Max and Isac are friends for years. Even tho Max is Isac's brother 's best friend this too just seems to have special bond and connection.
Their banter, their friendship and their relationship is so sweet and beautiful.
I adore all the side characters as well, and their found family is to die for.

All in all, huge recommendations for this book and this series as whole.
