This is my favorite in the series so far.

In the third installment of West’s tale, Olive is starting middle school. If that’s not scary enough, strange occurrences are happening not only in her home but also in her art class. She’s dealing with unexplained notes, missing items, and a betrayer in her midst.

The plot of this novel is well-developed and nicely paced. The mystery unfolds at all the right spots, building suspense and then popping the suspense bubble. Who is leaving Olive letters in her school cubby? Where are the missing items? Who is the betrayer among them? The answers to these questions will surprise seasoned readers of Olive’s story.

Read the rest here.

This series never fails to impress me! Every book is just as good as the last and nostalgia definitely bumps it up in terms of enjoyment and rating (for me at least). This plot line might be my favorite out of these first three and I enjoyed the whole 'double agent' thing even if I could've seen it coming. I love the friendship between Rutherford and Olive and between Leopold, Harvey, Horatio and Olive. I also hadn't really thought about it before now but I love the art! Yeah the cover is awesome, but also the black and white drawings in the middle of the book are super cool too and sometimes it reminds me of what I'm actually supposed to be imagining in my head. I also, as always, adore the magic in this series. Name another book with talking cats, magic paintings, and people trapped in them? I'll wait. Anyways still super cool and I'd still highly recommend. :)

Again, a fun little romp through super engaging middle grade lit! I may recommend these to my youngest step kiddo who is quite the burgeoning reader! I love the way West is treating this story.

Really good. So imaginative and original. I'd forgotten how much I loved this series.

Olive is a lovely main character with nothing to make me want to throttle/slap her.

Morton is adorable and just makes me want to hug him and make his life better.

Harvey/Captain Blackpaw/Agent 1-800/Sir Lancelot/that other personality I can't remember right now is the best. I. WANT. HIM.

Rutherford. I'm warming up to him.
Spoiler *gasp* He can read minds!!??

Horatio. I was so concerned for a minute when
Spoiler No. I'm not putting more spoilers because I know YOU, and YOU know who this is referring to, will just look at it and spoiler yourself and I can't be responsible for that. Needless to say, I was concerned for Horatio. But I do wonder how they didn't figure it out sooner...
I love Horatio and Olive's relationship. You might not think that a talking cat and a small kid can have an, "Awwww." friendship but you would be wrong.

Leopold wasn't in this one very much and I fully expect more of all the cats in the next book.

...

I love this series, for it's originality, writing, characters, etc. Very eager for the next book!

I liked this book enough to purchase and read the entire book on my phone. I hate reading on my phone so this is high praise indeed.
