4.5 stars!
Oh boy. This book. My heart.
”Anything to do with Ford was a one-way trip to heartache. Been there, done that, got the jersey.”
There are so many elements of this story that I loved. Maya Hughes knocked it out of the park with Fearless King, and it’s one of the best brother’s best friend stories I’ve ever read. It’s so full of fierce determination and love that by the end my heart was bursting. The characters, the relationships, the struggles, the steaminess- it has everything I love in a contemporary romance. You NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!
The reason I went 4.5 stars and not 5 was completely personal; I had to adjust to some of the metaphors and imagery used. I LOVE metaphors and imagery, but I couldn’t connect to the majority of the ones used in this book. It wasn’t enough to dampen the appeal of the actual plot, but it was enough to distract me.
“Which dream did I get to live? The one that had always been there and made my family proud, or the one that made my heart sing?”
Liv, our heroine, might be young, but she knows who she is and what she loves. Her heart is in the dance studio, but her loyalty to her brother and parents has her working hard toward a dream that isn’t hers. And her feelings for Ford? She’s loved him for as long as she can remember, but it’s another dream that feels out of reach. Liv’s heart is so big that she’s willing to sacrifice her own happiness, and your heart will break for her. But when Liv finally decides to fight for what she wants, all bets are off. Our girl is fierce, and her capacity for love makes her that much stronger. I want Liv to be my bestie. You will, too.
“So strong and so fragile, he had the biggest heart and so much fear about letting people see all of him.”
Ford’s introverted and mysterious demeanor draws you in, and with each layer that peels back, revealing more of his personality, you’ll fall deeper in love with him. His sensitivity, his vulnerability, his loyalty, and his fierce protective nature of those he loves is overwhelming in the best way. He’s beautiful in all aspects. Ford is the book boyfriend you’ve been waiting for- strong, silent, and sexy AF.
“I ran my fingers over my lips. Two summers already? I still thought about that kiss, the way his hands had felt on my waist and how my heart had nearly leaped out of my chest when I’d stood on my toes to taste him. The moment had stretched on for an eternity. I’d compared every kiss I’d had since then to the intensity of it. None had measured up.”
Ford and Liv’s relationship is forbidden. Ford’s brother has had feelings for Liv since they were kids, and Liv’s older brother is Ford’s best friend. Their concern for other’s feelings is heart wrenching, but the pull they feel toward one another is undeniable. Their chemistry is so off the charts that the sexual tension and burn of attraction emanates from the page.
And when they finally get together?
Hold on to your hearts, because It. Is. EVERYTHING.
These two are SO MUCH ALIKE in all the best ways, and they bring out the best in each other. Their relationship journey hits you in all the feels. I couldn’t stop cheering them on.
“With her hand in mine, I didn’t care if we were in the middle of a bustling restaurant or sitting at home on the couch. Anywhere with her was where I wanted to be.”
I also LOVED Liv and Marissa’s relationship. I live for good bestie storylines, and these two have it in every way. I wish I had friends like Liv and Marissa in college. I want to hang out on their couch while Liv makes Ginger Lime Margaritas and Marissa cracks jokes.
As for the other characters, all our favorite Kings (and queens!) show up in this fourth installment of the Kings of Rittenhouse series. Declan, Mak, Heath, Kara, Emmett, and Avery spice up the storyline with humor, fun, and true friendship. I love these boys and their better halves.
And Colm? You’ll get plenty of him, and he’ll gut punch you so hard that you’ll be gasping for breath and salivating for his story.

2.5 stars. I honestly did not like this one. I just feel like it was all over the place and they treated Colm terribly. If they would have told them from the beginning what was going on he probably would’ve had a better chance understanding but instead ruined both of their relationships with him for the sake of their own.
Fearless King has everything I love about the brothers-best-friend trope. It had angst, and drama, and the swoony sweetness of two characters knowing that they shouldn't be together but unable to stop the pull of their chemistry. It was addictive reading and unputdownable. Once I started this book, I could not stop reading. Ford and Liv were absolutely perfect together and I couldn't get enough of them. I loved them!
Overall, this was a gorgeous romance story that will have you swooning and fill you with so many happy feels. The Kings of Rittenhouse is one hell of a series that is unmissable. Maya Hughes has written such a fantastic novel. I am looking forward to reading her final installment in this series!

If this book had less conflicts it would've been perfect. It's still my favorite in the series though and I really love Olivia and Ford.

Maybe I am a little too critical... but my ratings are slowly getting lower and lower as I continue on with this series.
I felt excited getting into Olivia and Ford's story because of how much it is built up within the preceding books, however, as I continued to read it I realized I personally did not feel any chemistry between the two. I suppose all the time they spent together growing up led them to where they are in present day. It just was not so evident to me. Everything was so messy and all over the place.
And once again.... LACK OF COMMUNICATION TROPE <<<
I did not like the drama between both sets of siblings. It was so unnecessary and created so many conflicts. Definitely do not feel the urge to pick up the last book at all.
Not the biggest fan of how this ended. No resolve. No excitement for the couple.

Maya Hughes is the new author to me and this is her first book I've read. This one was a mix of college and sports romance with brother's best friend trope.
Ford always saw Olivia as his best friend’s little sister until he realized she was more than that. Now he can’t get her out of his head. Olivia had been crushing on Ford forever! It was no longer a childhood crush though. And it was about to become so much more.
The first time they kissed ended up causing almost a two year rift. But this time, was going to change everything.
Ford has his secrets and baggage from his past. Olivia is trying to fulfill a dream that she’s not even sure is her own. They both have alot to sort out. The problem is they can’t seem to stay away from each other. Will being together be worth the sacrifice?
This is the fourth book, I have not read 1-3 but I still understand the story line and there was enough information on who's who.
ARC is provided in exchange for an honest review.
