The quiet ones are always full of surprises, and Ford certainly delivers! Fearless King gives us a forbidden romance with Ford and Olivia, especially forbidden since both of them know exactly how Colm will react. This pair is everything I expected and so much more. In trying to protect everyone, Ford has more than his fair share of secrets, and those secrets could cost him. I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat, talking to Ford as I waited for things to be revealed and hoped he'd spill everything before it all blew up in his face. Of course, it wouldn't be a Maya Hughes story if it didn't have those big, angst-filled moments that make you want to hug some characters while shaking the daylights out of others. Fortunately, the angst is tempered wonderfully with wit, fun, and plenty of sexual tension and steam. We also get plenty of catch up time with past favorites while the story still stands on its own. That said, I highly recommend the whole series. Each book, including this one, is packed full of sexy hockey players, teammates who are more family than friends, all the feels and then some, and scorching hot romance with some laughs along the way.
So after 3 books of waiting for these two to come together we finally get the story of Liv and Ford. Liv and her brother Colm lost their parents at a young age and Colm had to step up to the plate of parental figure way too soon. Liv has always had her eyes on her brother's best friend, the very introverted and mysterious Ford. Colm thinks Ford is the brother to Liv that he could never be given the circumstances. Unfortunately, for him the feelings that Ford now has for Liv are definitely not brotherly anymore. Throw in the fact that Ford's little brother Grant has made it well known to Ford that he has a crush on Liv and Maya has woven a very complex tale with this one. There are a lot of unresolved and complicated family dynamics playing out here as well as a lot of hurt and betrayal.
Colm has an injury that takes him out of Philly to CA so he's depending on Ford to try and figure out what's going on with Liv. Before the death of her parent's Liv had dreamed of being a doctor just like them. She is slowly coming to terms with the fact that as she has grown up she isn't sure that's her dream anymore. She never feels more alive than when she is dancing. Would she be betraying her parents memory, her brother, and herself if she chases a new dream? Is she willing to give up all the hard work that got her here? How will this affect her relationship with her brother who has also given up so much to get her so close only to walk away from that now?
Ford has been trying to deal with some serious recent screw ups and secrets in his life. He already lost Colm's trust once though they are working on overcoming that, and then 2 years ago he lost Liv due to one night with one amazing kiss gone wrong. He wants to keep Colm's trust by helping him to figure out what's going on with Liv but he also knows that getting closer to Liv is going to bring up feelings that despite his best effort to contain have never gone away. He's going to end up hurting Colm and his brother if he lets himself have what he really wants, Liv.
Due to Liv's pre-med studies and Ford being an NHL player their schedules are constantly conflicting leading to lots of missed connections, text messages, phone calls and quick stolen moments. The build up to them finally getting together was insane. Prepare to be ready to spontaneously combust before Maya finally lets our characters have some semblance of happiness.
I loved that we got to see more of Marisa and LJ in this book who get their own story in her other series Fulton U.
This book is rare for one of Maya's books because it leaves us with the feeling of an incomplete story. Liv and Ford's love doesn't just impact their families it also ripples out into all of the Kings. However, this is one strong group of friends and you know the Kings and Queens of Rittenhouse aren't about to lose one of their own. Poor, angry, and hurt Colm needs to do some serious growing and changing in his story before this group can truly have their HEA. This book will leave you ready to devour the final book with the kings, Heartless King.

The 1 star is only for Colm, as he enters his villain era (RIP Cord, the bromance that should’ve been forever
Now, my first book in this series was book 3, but reading that one made me excited for all the characters' stories. And while it took me a bit to get into this, well, after the very dramatic beginning, once we got into the day to day chapters of the story, I had a bit of trouble getting going, after that, I was swept up and had trouble putting it down.
This was a story of all the obstacles that could possibly come in between two people meant to be together. Sometimes this really frustrates me, because I feel like if I just had the chance for that kind of love, there's nothing that would keep me from it. But both Ford and Liv had really good reasons for the things that held them back. Until one point at the end, but then Ford turned around and made it a perfect ending. Liv's brother Colm was one of those reasons, actually a few of them. He not only factored in Liv's dedication to med school, a future that didn't really make her excited, but he also factored in not only as Ford's best friend, but also a friend that Ford had wronged, even if done unknowingly. And then there was Ford's family, and what he'd had to do to his mom at a young age, which made it hard for him to tell people things that he knew might hurt them, if he thought he could spare them from that hurt. Not to mention it was also his younger brother who was a factor in the relationship, as he also was interested in Liv. But it was so much more for his younger brother Grant than just an interest in the girl.
This was a very involved story, had a lot of ins and outs to keep me on the edge of my seat as I read, as well as keeping our couple apart. In the end we got our HEA for Liv and Ford, as we should.
One other thing I loved was not only did I get to check in with all our characters I loved from the other Kings of Rittenhouse books, but also I got to spend some time with characters I met and liked in the more recent book by this author, Perfect First. Which makes me so excited to get back to them, especially since there is only one more character to fit into this series. I'll be looking forward to Colm's book, because right now he's not a happy guy, and I'm grumpy with him as well as he is with those around him. But I'd like to see him get his HEA, and I know the author will do that in his book.

My heart!
Ford and Liv story is so good!!!!
There’s a lot to take in and talk about it but that would mean giving spoilers which I won’t for sure because you have to read and go through their journey of finding that happiness they deserve so much.
Family is the most important thing in our lives, and we don’t want to disappoint or fail them, although sometimes the decisions taken are not what we really want for our own happiness and life.
Prepare yourself for a great story full of love, disappointment and happiness, a well written book as usual, hot intimate scenes and angst and twists that will make you to finish reading it in one sitting.
Can’t wait for angry Colm’s book.

Honestly I think I would have liked this better if I wasn't drained by this series. Tried to read the 2nd book and dnf it pretty fast. Read this one though and it was cute but my interest for this series just was lost sorry. I will say, ford is one of my fav characters in all the books w Emmett.
Also the pacing of their relationship and when they got together was super odd like I didnt know where they were w each other most of the time. Like they were just friends then randomly phone sexed out of nowhere????? Ok.

I love the brothers bestfriend trope so that aspect of the book was adorable, also with a little age gap. This book was VERY similar to The Chase by Elle Kennedy so if you like one you'll like the other. I loved the introverted male MC in both books. Ford was adorable. And I am so excited for Marisa and LJ's book. I think it's the very last one in the Fulton U series but just the little glimpses of them in this book were adorable.
