Wow - I knew the mother-in-law was evil but didn't think she was that evil... A bit concerned Joe made secret agreement with her and didn't share all details with MB.... Hope that doesn't blow-up on him.

After 11 books I get the author has issues with women. I have seen some improvement in the last couple (a better editor?) of books…but we’re going right back to the beginning with this one…

Listened via audible.

Talk about dry. Maybe it was because I listened to it, but i just was not into this book. In the end, the storyline was decent. I always like a good murder mystery. But the dialog between characters was just lacking. I often found myself bored while listening, wondering why the current dialog was even necessary. I don't think i can recommend this one to anyone, unless maybe you're a big fan of this author or series.

I am so vested in the lives of the people in this book I hope C J Box never stops writing them. It would be like losing a family member .

Pickett's mother in law is arrested for the murder of hr 6th husband. It seems like an open and shut case, until Pickett goes digging. He connects with Nate again, a twist that I like (I like Nate), as Nate goes down his own road of payback. Once again, a good read (kept me up till after midnight).
