There was a lot of potential felt that could have come from accidental, but I feel as though it kind of felt flat. It was a mix of things dragging on to not dragging on enough.
Johanna, she was insufferable as i’ve even seen others say. At some points I kind of was forgetting she was supposed to be the MC because sympathy was felt, but she was so selfish and rude at times. A lot of the same stuff was repeated over and over again, it got boring.
The romance wasn’t felt between Jo and Milo. I felt like it was kind of just thrown in there for a sake of a romance.
I liked the conclusion with her father though, because it’s interpreted up to us to how they ever resolve things if they do. The last chapter is where it really felt emotional even a little bit out of the whole book.
The gun violence aspect was I thought written great. Overall, making it an okay book.

This book is about gun violence and gun safety. It was at times difficult to listen to and yet a worthwhile read. Johanna was raised by very caring grandparents, who hid the truth from her to protect her. This made me question whether they were right or wrong to do that, and whether it was her father’s right to tell her after being out of her life so long. Ultimately, she had a lot to process and she was lucky to have some supportive friends as well as a new boyfriend to help her through.

This is a powerful and emotional book and the author nailed it with the story. This book was just wonderful and the author did an amazing job tackling the talk about gun violence, losing family, friends, and yourself, plus talking about emotional problems. I was hooked with this book from page 1 because the way the author describes the plot and scenes were very descriptive so it wasn't at all hard for the reader to think hard or imagine it in their heads. I loved how powerful and emotional this book was. It's something most people don't talk about. This book was out of my comfort zone meaning not a fantasy or romance book but I'm glad that the publisher sent me this book. The characters were the main part of why this book was great.
When Johanna finds out that she killed her mom when she was two she pretty much loses her true self and wants to stay away from her love ones. Her boyfriend, best friends, and grandparents help her get through it when she was attacking herself. Usually, in most books I have read, the friends would just leave someone who is in a lot of pain and I love how the author included support characters giving the theme of family love/connections. My favorite part of this book was the supportive characters because they would always be there for Jo even though she was pushing them away. I also love how the author wrote the characters making it an emotional read.
This book was emotional with the talk about gun violence and losing your loved ones. I felt bad about the lie that Jo had to go through and how she got bullied with all the pressure she had. *SPOILER ALERT* The author did end this off with a good note. *END OF SPOILER* This book is one of my favorite contemporary books of this year and I totally recommend this to readers.

I really liked this YA book. The author is a good writer and I like how the issue isn’t oversimplified. The characters are complex and real and respond in very human ways to a very difficult situation. My one concern with the book is that I feel like it treats teen sex far too flippantly (but then, I’m old and of a different generation on this issue lol). Really appreciate what the author has done and will definitely recommend to my teenager.

Powerful book about truths, huh violence, and some more. However l really do not want to give anything from this book away, however I do have some massive gripes. Anette was thrown into the trash after her thing was done, which was really lame. As well as Robert’s story being so undiscovered. But besides that I loved the massive hole in Johanna’s heart, even after filling in her project, solid book.

This book is amazing. There is so much to unpack from it all, so I may change my review in the future, but as of right now I am giving it 4 stars.
I finished this book in one day because I was so invested in Johanna and her journey through all of the drama she had encountered. As an adult I can't imagine doing what her father did to her to set this all off. It is just unfathomable to tell a young adult such devastating news that really accomplishes nothing. Is it unrealistic that she wouldn't have at least Googled her mom once to find out more about the accident, probably not. But that was about my only sticking point to this novel.

This is the first book I have read about the backstory of the kid who accidentally shot her parents to death. I have seen a similar story in a movie before from Netflix called The Unforgiveable.
But I never would have thought that from a point of view of a teenage girl who has a budding life, a whole future ahead of her would-be subjected to different types of bullying from people who will never understand what a freak accident does to a kid who has never known anything.
Aside from that, the truth of how this is something that can happen, the men who think that everyone owes them anything and the people who bow down to them should be more educated and punished for subjecting another human being to such disgusting bullying. I hated those characters from here so much, especially the dad.
Anyway, I read it well. Thank you.
