ahhhh Balthazar.... what can I say???

This was a fun read. A great catch up with some of the characters from the Evernight series. I loved how the story was told through both Skye and Balthazars POV and I loved the flashbacks into Balthazars life. It was a great way to get to know him and understand him as a character. If you enjoyed Evernight you will love this book. I don't have the need to say much more about it other than read it!!

This book was written that it can be read as a stand alone book from the series. However if I had not read the series first, there is no way that I would have liked this book quite so much. As it is the book has been sitting on my to read pile for well over a year.

Yes, it was nice to get more perspective into the past that man Balthazar into the man that he is, but the whole book just fell sort of, flat and weak.

Skye was a strong person mentally, but she just didn't do it for me. There were small mentions of Lucas and a small cameo appearance of Bianca and Clem was texting Skye a lot, but no other mentions of the Evernight cast.

Probably a good book to read if you like the Twilight series, but still not as good. A disappointing read. But certainly better if you read the Evernight series first.

I enjoyed the Evernight series and was pumped for Balthazar's book but this really fell flat in the worst of ways. I almost wish I hadn't read it. It feels like an unfinished job.
This feels like something you write in a go or that you go over until you suck out all the fun. There's no tension between the characters and you barely feel their connection.

After more than a month after the release of the paperback edition of "Balthazar", I finally bought a copy for myself the other day and was happy to learn the backstory and the latest adventure of one of the more memorable characters in the Evernight series. I rate this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars but have rounded it off to 5 (no halfsies).

While Lucas and Bianca, the main characters in the first four Evernight books, do make an appearance and are mentioned in this final book in the series, we learn more about Balthazar and his life before becoming a vampire, his painful transition, and his journey afterwards. Skye was interesting match for him, in that she held her own. Their love story wasn't mushy or forced, something I appreciated. Kudos to Charity redeeming herself as well. I seriously disliked her in the earlier books.

I enjoyed the book and it was an easy read, finishing it in one sitting. The only reason I decided to go with 4.5 stars over 5 is that I felt the ending left me hanging. Balthazar and Skye were obviously going to begin a new journey together but the fact that this book has been pronounced as the final one in the series leaves me wondering what else was in store for the twosome...

No puedo contener mis ganas de querer más ❤️‍

OMG. I LOVED EVERY MOMENT. "More. As in, I want MORE"

LOLLOL. I WANT MORE OF EVERNIGHT

Claudia Gray is one of those authors I always like. Some of her books are better than others. Some speak more to me than others, but there's not one I read that I disliked. However, this book was on my shelves for a long time already. I finished the original series and somehow I didn't feel like starting this one and didn't really know why, actually. But today I stood in front of my bookcase and felt the pull towards this book.

And this book, maybe even more than the last book of the original series, was a vampire love story as I like them. It's filled with danger, it's filled with threats and serious contenders, it's filled with hard choices and it's filled with confrontations. Both characters have a lot of growing and learning to do. Both on their own and also together. And to learn and grow, they also have to confront the past and what made them who they are now.

Balthazar suffers the typical vampire guilt. We learn in flashbacks where that guilt comes from, why he sees himself as a monsters and why he doesn't allow humans to get involved with him and his life. But slowly we see the cracks forming, we see him breaking. In a good way. It's a hard journey, most of all for Balthazar himself, but the conclusion he reaches at the end of the book is beautiful and absolutely worth the read.

The same can be said about Skye. Skye has those powers she knows nothing about. She can see ghosts, she can experience their deaths and it terrifies her. When she learns that her gift has consequences for vampires drinking her blood she has to confront her fears and figure out what's going on with her, what it means and how she has to deal with it. And on top of that she has to convince Balthazar that it's okay to love her.

Written in the typical easy to read and highly addictive style of Claudia Gray this is a vampire story like there are maybe already a lot. And yet, it's still worth the read.
