I adored the Anne of Green Gables series so much! I recommend this to you for sure. Read all the books, buy the whole series, you won't regret it.

I didn't love this quite as much as the first book, but it's still very charming! And Anne learning how to be a teacher was very relatable, oof.

Anne Shirley is back at Green Gables to teach at the school she attended on Avonlea. This story takes us through about two years of her life. After Matthew’s death, Amarillo losing her vision, the arrival of twins Davy and Dora, the engagement of Diana Barry, the death of Rachel Lynde’s husband, and the departure of Gilbert Blythe and Anne for college. Romance and tragedy.

the entire brand of this series is to be as excessively cloyingly twee as possibly which is something that i’m usually repulsed by and i honestly should have read this in smaller doses rather than trying to smash through it bc it did get to be too much a lot of the time lol. still had its entertaining and charming moments tho. anne is one of the og not like other girls’ girls and I loved her for it. it’s completely cheesy and was pretty consistently hitting an lolz level of cringe to me, but i was cracking smiles here and there too - i’m prolly not gonna return to this series tho and am just gonna read the wiki at some point

Why these are just so wonderful is hard to put a finger on. Anne is now a schoolteacher, no longer the source of mischief herself (mostly) but an observer of it. Her view of the world, however, and her deeper relationship with Murilla and others on the island are just fine writing.
