Aahhh!! I loved the way the author describes Avonlea the different settings, it's sooo serene.
Reading Anne's story is just as wonderful as an adult as it was when I was a child! I love reading of the scrapes that grown Anne gets into and the lives of the eccentric people who populate Avonlea. It's sweet to see how Anne's romance comes from a friendship, though we didn't get much of Anne's romance in this one! Looking forward to revisiting the rest in the series!
A continuation of the "kids say/do the darnedest things" theme. Anne's participation has waned a bit, as she has matured, so we introduced a few charming kids to pick up the slack. And, to not be age-is, an eccentric older lady. Still a sweet, wholesome read.
This one has more slow bits than Green Gables, but gosh, the good parts are just pure magic. Montgomery manages to evoke the feel of magic, like with Miss Lavendar, while things retain just the right amount of realism to keep it grounded. Anne forever. Still love it, 30 years later.
