A sweet, gentle tale from another era.

I must've read this when I was younger, but didn't remember much of it. It's the story of the 2 years Anne spent as a teacher (after she graduated from grammar school and before she went to college). There's very gentle humor, much of which is in the 'kids say the darndest things' vein.

Themes: school teacher, PEI, early 20th century

This book is an adventure as we follow Anne on more fun and great times. Now in this second book Anne becomes a young teacher. Anne tries to win over all of her students, but as a few months goes by she realizes it's harder then she thinks. Anne and Marilla adopt two 6 year old twins. They prove to be a handful and a lot of fun. Also we see Gilbert kind of confess in his thoughts how much he likes Anne. Anne of course doesn't know. We also see Anne growing up a lot more and thinking more and more about college. I don't want to give away anything more.

I did not enjoy this as much as the first book. Anne sort of gets lost in the story. The new characters, especially the two boys, Davy and Paul do not ring true to me. It is still charming, though. I read it fast so I could get to the romance in the next one.
