Totes adorbs.

It's cute and not too tedious to read, but definitely the kind of kid's book that should be accompanied by a conversation, lest you leave the kid with the implication that only good children deserve food and toys, or that people are bad if they tell you why they can't help you with everything (especially re. age and disabilities).

Is there an American child who has not had this book read to them? This is the classic edition with the beautiful illustrations. I love it--shivers of nostalgia every time I see it!

We actually received this last month as the first book from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library! the new illustrations are wonderfully bright (I do not have a classic version to compare to, but I recall how well the "good food" was illustrated and this fits the tone). The little toy clown is not creepy here!

I read this when I was little, and it was honestly my favorite picture of ALL time!!!

One of my son’s favorites.

The Little Engine That Could is a book every student needs to read at a very young age. It is a book about a train that doesn't think it can make it up a big hill.

I like this book because it will teach my students that when you don't think you can't do something all you have to do is try. You can turn your can't to I can.

This was the first story we read as a family and will always have a special place in our hearts.
