I hated the fact that the opening chapter spoils which characters survived. However other than that this is a really effective horror story. The earlier scenes when the vampires are trying to establish themselves were the most powerfully creepy, towards the end when all hell let loose it became more gory than tense. Still the image of the gravedigger digging up Danny Glicks corpse will stick with me for a while.
Btw the two short stories at the end of the main novel were fantastic!
Edit: Reread notes. This book feels like watching a snowball roll down a hill getting bigger and bigger with nothing able to stop it. It feels a bit like IT with all of the characters from the town but here it felt like it had more of impact because most of them got turned into vampires!

A genuinly terryfying book. Although the hints are there, this really had me sat up in bed staring at the shadows casted in the corners of the room. Even after we are brought into the fold, there are still scenes of fear, thrill and suspense. A good horror story

I was never truly scared during this book but overall creepy with some scenes that are explicit
I actually really enjoyed this book. The slow burn in the beginning really does pay off. The story is beautifully written. The atmosphere was really great. It's not a book that will cause you to lose sleep, but it's a book that is creepy and culminated in a well written stort

Slow build up to the main story, but once it gets going, it takes off on a twisted ride. There were multiple shocking and visceral scenes that reminded me why I love reading Stephen King. Thankful to have finally read this one!
