First read in 2016. A paranormal erotic romance.

Okay, I wasn’t expecting a lot from the plot with this one but it was utterly silly - you don’t even know “what” Kira is at first! Lots of silliness - why the clans can’t intermix, why does Lawrence hate her (and her mum), what’s the dynamic in those pairings, why does she go to the sheriff, why cam Malcolm suddenly shift? Just too many plot holes or things just not explained. As I said, this was a short read so I wasn’t expecting Tolkien level world building, but still...

And even some of the sex was a bit weird - why does Lara “torture” Kira by putting nipples clamps on her (and seemingly getting aroused by it?) and those clamps seem to come off almost instantaneously but she still acts like she suffered for ages? Why does Kira randomly grind on Kane then start giving him a blowjob? The ménage scene between the three of them was also never really explained (aside from Lucas saying he sometimes share a woman with Kane). Kane also watches them fuck first. Malcolm is having (BDSM) sex with Lara (but she hates all of them)?

Sex scenes also included: fingering, nipple play, smelling her arousal, eating her out, a little voyeurism (from Kane) who then wanks, blowjobs, 69ing, playing with his nipples, mfm spit roast, spanking, ass play, anal.

It does seem like there’s BDSM themes to come as Lucas seems to be familiar with nipple clamps, wants to punish Kira, shares women with his brother. Malcolm is definitely playing Dom with his girls, and Kane seems to be doing some of that too. Not really explored too much in this book though. Some other reviews seem to indicate this isn’t the authors best so may try some of her other works at some point.

I enjoyed Lucas story

Really enjoying this series!!

I don't find the BDSM elements to be compelling: frankly it just pissed me off. Not cool. The rest was ok, and the storyline was pretty good. I am unlikely to read the rest of the series, though.

I don't know if there was a problem with the formatting just from translation to my Nook, but this book was so hard to read I almost stopped a couple of times. However, I'm extremely stubborn and hate to not finish a story (unless it's excruciating). There was also a bad case of head-hopping all throughout. The story itself wasn't too bad, but the heroine frustrated me a couple of times and the sex scenes didn't always fit into the situation. The part where the heroine threw up when regaining consciousness, went through a whole scene dealing with a villain, then is found by the hero and went straight into the sex wouldn't have been so bad if she had taken two seconds to rinse her mouth out. Ruined the whole scene for me.

This Book was HOT HOT HOT.. If you love shapeshifting erotica then this book is for you.. will def read again..

Hmmm. This was an okay book. Mostly because I really didn't like the heroine for most of the book, but the dynamics of the book were awesome and the supporting character didn't disappoint. The evil climax wasn't enough but I guess you have to scarific with something.

Liked it but didn't love it.

~ 3 Lucas Stars ~

Lucas is book one in the Black Cougar series by Eliza Gayle. This is a short quick read with lots of sex.

Lucas is definitely an alpha male who makes assumptions, but we see he has a loving and forgiving nature. Kira is psychic and on her way to a mental meltdown due to her mating urges kicking in, but she is also lucid enough to be wary of a mating.

The story is enjoyable, with action, romance, and a nefarious plot. The couple’s chemistry is smoking, but they do very little communicating, except in the physical area with the sex being very steamy. We get an anal and a M/F/M scene too. Their is a little foreshadowing for the next book. I did have some issues with some things being left unresolved or unexplained and the end is abrupt, leaving you hanging a little, but also wanting more.

Lucas is an enjoyable enough read. Something that fills a void for when you need a nice steamy quick read.

Eliza Gayle came as a recommended to me author so I snatched up any and every title she had available for free on Amazon which is how I came across Lucas. As someone who hasn't read any books in the paranormal universe that Ms. Gayle has written I found this title to be mostly very easy to jump right in to. I did have some initial confusion but that lessoned as the story developed. Kira is having dreams of an extremely sexy man and she knows that they are leading her to her mate, a wolf, but rescuing him and convincing him that she is his mate is a little harder than she originally thought it would be. Lucas has had the same visions as Kira but protecting her and his clan is a little harder than he originally planned. Especially since enemies seem to come at them from very corner. I really enjoyed the sexy, exciting world built by Ms. Gayle and I'm excited to continue the series. Good read!
