Very well-written, nastily biting satire, though definitely not for everybody. Let's just say that teaching "A Modest Proposal" is one of my favorite things as an English teacher, and that piece is tame in comparison to Tender is the Flesh. Combine "A Modest Proposal" with The Jungle and double how dark it is and you're getting close to Tender is the flesh.
