I love the shopaholic series. I really do. They're fun and light reads. And yes they're a little bit out there, and slightly unrealistic. But all chick-lit books are to some extent. They're not books that will make you stop and think too hard.

This book was probably my least favorite of the series so far. There was sooooo much back and forth between the two weddings and so much indecision on beckys part. It got to be a bit repetitive. My favorite part was probably the last quarter of the book when it all started to fall into place.

That being said, I do look forward to Becky Bloomwoods next adventure.

I forgot to even mark this as read. I read it a few days ago, not anything that had an impact on me, just something fun.

Something about reading about weddings is just fun. People are happy. Although this one was much more stressful that it needed to be. Becky knows there is a problem and thinks if she ignores them the'll just go away. She was pretty frustrating in this book.
Spoiler Suze and Tarquin's wedding was great! I feel like I should mention the baby, but I don't have anything to say.

I was a little annoyed how Becky "solved" this problem. She just deceived people. She didn't have to own up to anything.

I can not stand Elinor. I know we got a little more of her back story later, but I still don't see the need for her attitude. I didn't understand Luke's attachment and eagerness to defend her. I have no idea where that relationship is headed. I'm glad Luke took of some time from work in this one. Although when he was off, it really wasn't that great. He was so distraught.

I'm excited to see what happens after what was said at the end of this. I don't think it's in the next book though. She might mention some things, but I don't think we're going to get the full story. Loving this series so far!

I'm on a roll

Book #6 read in 2008

This book reminded me of how much I liked the first book. In this one, Becky does not repeat all the same problems, but finds new, amusing ones. I enjoyed this book and the narration very much.

These books are so much fun!

Oh how I love this series!!!
Listen, the premise is that Becky is a shopaholic that can’t control herself and gets into a mess. But by the end of the first book she somehow sorts her debts and gets better. So you would wonder what the next books will be about if not her shopping craze. But I have to say Sophie Kinsella was able to keep the story so interesting and have Becky go through such fun adventures.

It’s so nice to see her preparing the wedding (even though I still have reservations with Luke, he is nice sometimes but other times he can be horrible) and shop a lot for it.

The New York setting is lovely (even though I think I prefer London) and I was happy to see that some heavier themes like Luke’s relationship with his mother were dealt with.

I enjoy these books so much because they are super fun and entertaining, but I think I love them because I am so similar to Becky.
For example, when she is shopping for wedding dresses:

[Shopping Assistant] “So we’re after something either simple or elaborate, with sleeves or strapless, possibly with beading and/or embroidery and either with a train or without.” [Becky] “Exactly! But you know, I’m quite flexible.”

If this isn’t me like all the time! I would be exactly like that when buying a wedding dress because I have acted exactly the same on multiple occasions.

The wedding decision was definitely long and at times I wanted to shake her so that she would make a decision, but I completely understood what she was feeling and, once again, I would probably act very similarly if that all happened to me.

I am really glad of how it all tied up, and found it so hilarious how she managed to
Spoilerget fake-married at the Plaza without no one noticing, and then fly to England and get real-married at home.
I definitely got very emotional at the end and I can’t wait to continue this series.

Just one word - PERFECT!! Luke’s proposal was soo romantic and OH MY GODD so unexpected at that time!!! The book is just fun to read. Nothing deep.
