I read this book in a few hours at a time when I really needed the insights of a 20something relationship. I feel like Ava voiced all of my inner thoughts when it comes to dating men and women. But I hope I fare better than her - there was a bit of a cliffhanger and you hope she makes a good choice but we’ll never know. A really emotionally engaging read.

Omgggggggg There’s something about a character driven book written by an Irish author that will just do it for me every single time. To everyone who rated this a 1 or 2: you probably wouldn’t like being friends with me. This was the first book I’ve been able to finish in months and I think I’m now emotionally attached. Okay and yes it does remind me of Sally Rooney- but I think everyone who says that hasn’t read many books written by European authors or general fiction entirely. And like you could say every thriller reminds you of another thriller. Like all romances are the same shit anyway, so why do we constantly need to shove things into a genre. God forbid someone writes a book about introspective people in their twenties!! Okay now read that back in my voice so you know I’m not being mean and angry and attacky. I love thrillers and romance!!!which is probably why I ate this up

Really enjoyable read. The main character was an unlikely protagonist, but I was hooked. The use of language was excellent.

Every female Irish fiction writer from now until the end of time will be compared to sally rooney. In this case I do think it’s apt though.
