pretty good writing, a few funny lines i really appreciated, but the main character annoyed me and i wasn’t super intrigued. it was easy to finish because of the short chapters

slow pace and cluncky language, not for me!

Keeps you drawn in until the last page while always being like ?? And then at the end you’re like that’s it?? Gives good food for thought but Ava is truly unlikable

I really enjoyed this book! A wonderfully weird main character tries to grow up, come to terms with who she is and her family, while navigating life in Hong Kong, and two complicated romantic relationships. Honestly this is what I always hoped the Sally Rooney books would be - similar themes but much less flat, less dissociated and more engaging characters. Love it, will definitely be looking out for more of Naoise Dolan's books!
