A most fantastic ending to the 7 year series! I can't believe it is over but I am thoroughly content about the wrap up that JK Rowling provided of her series. I will miss Harry Potter... sometime soon I will have to begin re-reading it all!

While I am happy with this book and everything, I really wish it would have had more about how Harry's world was impacted after he killed Voldemort instead of just skipping to 19 years later.

A lot of revelation. I've finally finished it after postponing to read it for so many years.

[b:Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows|136251|Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7)|J.K. Rowling|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1327625845s/1.jpg|2962987]. Coming from me, that pretty much falls into the "damning with faint praise" category. There were some parts of this book I really enjoyed, especially some of the character development with the Weasley kids. Overall though...well, if you don't mind obscenities or spoilers, my complete thoughts are in the rant below.

SpoilerWhy the hell is half of this book Harry & the gang wandering around in the woods. We get it. Things are really bad, they can't find the stuff to defeat Voldemort, people are dying, etc., but did we really need so many chapters of Harry being angst-ridden and sulky in the goddamned woods? And the ending...the fuck was that? Harry defeats Voldemort with a pussy-ass spell because of a loophole?! Really?!

That being said, there were some parts I really liked. Fred & George became more like people and less like caricatures. Ron developed a backbone and grew up. The battle at Hogwarts was well done. Neville, oh my god, Neville. The way he turned out made me so happy. I was even OK with Snape's redemption. Sadly, I remain disappointed in this ending to what began as such a promising series.
