Will you be entertained by this book like I was? Most likely.

Aside from the Norse mythology, which was a refreshing plot point, this book is predictable and the romance is more insta-love than slow burn. There is a severe lack of character development and world-building. It read like your typical romantasy novel...take that as you will.

This was my first Viking novel, and now I'm on the search for more! This story revolves around the Shield Maiden, Freya. You quickly learn about her absolutely shitty husband, Vragi. I'm glad Freya

ended up throwing Bjorn's firey ax into the back of his head

, because there wasn't one ounce of good qualities for the piece of garbage. Fucking good.

Snorri was definitely.... special. He takes the prophecy given by Bjorn's mother too literally, and it is kinda annoying. When Snorri and Freya make the blood oath, I could have swore it would mean that Bjorn would be blood tied to her. But then the curveball at the end had me tossing that out the window!!

I can't wait to see how Freya and Bjorn get past the ending in the next in the series.
