Mario Puzo's The Godfather exceeded my expectations, even as a devoted fan of the two films. The book's faithful adaptation of the characters enriched my understanding of them. Puzo's writing captures the complex web of power, loyalty, and betrayal in a cinematic yet personal way.
The novel delves into the Corleone family's inner workings, giving depth to figures like Michael and Vito. It invites readers into their minds, struggles, and moral compromises, going beyond the films' hints.
For fans, this is an essential read that enhances the adaptation's brilliance while standing as a masterpiece.

LI-BRA-ZO!!! Háganse un favor y aunque hayan visto las películas, lean el libro.

A fun book that romanticizes the Mafia a bit by justifying the atrocities committed as loyalty to family and friends. A bit sleazy. Lots of extraneous sex. Women viewed from a very misogynistic angle. However, the characters were a lot of fun and of course, this book inspired one of the greatest movies ever made (or so I've heard, I have yet to watch it; on my list now that I've read the book).

The book has plotting and intrigue and some big twists. I think more modern authors have pulled off the big payoff moments better than this book did, but I think overall, most readers will be satisfied with the Corleone family "justice".

A relatively easy read. Worth reading just for being the cultural icon that it is.
