I expected it to be good but this exceeded my expectations. I’ve been a big fan of the films for years and really enjoyed this fleshing out some of the characters. It has also aged surprisingly well. Would have given 5 stars but some of the minor characters that it goes into really could of been cut and have not translated well to modern day.

I did not expect to love this book as much as I did there were definitely some plot points that slowed the book down a little bit, but in the end wrapped perfectly.

La película es una de mis favoritas, y por tanto, sería muy difícil que el libro en que está basada no me gustara. Y efectivamente. Es uno de esos libros que hasta que no los lees, no te sientes completo.
Salvo algunos pasajes referentes a Johnny (uno de los personajes más aburridos y que menos interés me despertó), el resto del libro me ha gustado mucho. Es atroz, directo, sin tapujos. Y lo mejor, el hecho de que estuviera escrito en un lenguaje directo y fácil de comprender, por lo que la lectura se me ha hecho bastante amena.

Read this on a 12-hour bus ride from Nairobi, Kenya to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and then reread my favorite parts on an overnight ferry from Zanzibar back to Dar es Salaam. Much better than the movie (and the movie is brilliant). Immediately went into my top ten. Would recommend to everyone ever ever ever.

This book was so great, I regret every second that it was on my shelf and I didn't want to read it. The godfather became one of my favorite fictional characters.
I love the ease in which Mario Puzo was able to introduce so many different characters and I was never lost in the story. (I'm looking at you [b:One Hundred Years of Solitude|320|One Hundred Years of Solitude|Gabriel García Márquez|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327881361s/320.jpg|3295655] ) It was as if I was sitting around the Corleone's family living room, watching the story unfold before my eyes. It was magical. Just go ahead, READ IT!

I've never read this before, but enjoyed the movie a long time ago. Really great story. Well written with some particularly excellent sequences. Excellent character writing obviously.
