I enjoyed this book. I wanted to keep reading and I related to the main character in some ways. There could be potential trigger points in this book for some readers. Some of the chapters were deep, emotional, or talked about sensitive topics.
This book was simultaneously devastating and fascinating, and I could not tear my eyes away. I was maybe a quarter of the way through when I realized that this book would haunt me for years after I finished it, and now that I’ve read all of it, I was right. This book is for all the girls who have experienced sexual assault and were made to question “was it actually assault?” and to believe it was their own fault. I don’t understand why so many other reviews hated this book or were let down by there not being any “revenge” plot — revenge isn’t the right word here, it’s justice. Ani got justice for what happened to her, and through that we can see that she starts to heal, which is the most important part. It’s not realistic for every woman who’s been sexually assaulted to exact her revenge on her assaulter. Not every woman is Gone Girl. TifAni getting the justice she deserved for so long is the best ending, leaving her horrible fiancé and realizing that she deserves so much more than what she’s allowed herself is the better ending. I loved this book immensely, forever a ghost in my bookshelf.

I have no idea why this book has received so many negative reviews. It's less around a mystery and more about what happened to the main character and why it happened. There are a lot of lessons to be learnt from it and paints a bleak but realistic life of being a teenage girl.
Many people dislike the main character because she's a b**ch. However her personality is a form of defense, I can see how and why she did what she did.

The story revolves around Ani, a woman in her late 20s who’s engaged to her dream man and works as a writer at one of the top women’s magazines in New York. The first two-thirds of the book is very mysterious: we know that Ani has a dark secret from her past, that she has agreed to be featured in a documentary about it and that she will do just about anything to appear totally changed and successful for the taping. Beyond that, we have no idea what happened, other than that it was the changing point in her life.
The book goes back and forth between present-day Ani and her teenage days at a popular prep school, when she was known as TifAni FaNelli. We find out TifAni has been kicked out of her Catholic school for smoking weed, and her parents have sent her to a prep school less for punishment and more for social status, which is extremely important both to Ani and her mom, even though they both have different opinions as to what that means. We learn of the horrors TifAni faced as a teenager trying to push her way into the popular crowd — many of which seem like they could have been her life-changing secret, but they’re only leading up to it.
"Luckiest Girl Alive" is a complex character study with so much drama that you won’t want to put it down. I loved getting to see Ani’s imperfections from her point of view and getting to see every scheming, messed up thought she had. The mysterious event from her past didn’t turn out as much of a shock to me, but that didn’t hurt its impact on the book. It was still an incredible story with so many intricate details woven throughout.

Too scattered, like the author couldn't decide whether she wanted to write a funny chick lit or a thriller.

i didn't hate it, but i didn't love it. idk the writing was a little hard for me to find a good rhythm and i felt like i kept getting lost? idk if that makes sense lol.
also i didn't understand the whole breaking up with luke over arthur's picture thing. i'm glad she was honest with him in the movie at least.
