Hooboy. Where do I start?
This was an intense read for me. It's darker and at one point (in my opinion) goes somewhere unexpected that could be too much for some people. Read the spoiler if you prefer to know, but it spoils major plot points.
So, it was intense but mostly enjoyable. I HAD TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED so it was a relatively fast read. I need to go read something happy now.

Spoiler
Ani is the survivor of a school shooting and that shooting is described in details near the end of the book. Ani is also the survivor of rape and this is also described. So, it was intense but mostly enjoyable. I HAD TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED so it was a relatively fast read. I had a hard time liking this book in the beginning. TifAni's personality and character traits made it so hard to appreciate her. I found her to just be another 'mean girl' in her late 20's. Of course as I read more, and the horrific experiences that she had as a teenager come forward, the more it made sense. The character development of Ani was so well done as the book went on. And then to read 'What I Know' at the end of the book was just incredible. Jessica Knoll is the hero we all need. "I'm not fine. It's not fine. But it's finally the truth, it's what I know, and that's a start."

A gripping read. At first I thought it was just a supermarket-type thriller, but it morphed into something much more affecting and disturbing. And by the end I was rooting for a heroine who, at first glance, did not seem a very sympathetic character. Would be a very good jumping off point for discussion with teenagers about rape and sexual abuse..
Very disappointed that this was labeled as a thriller.... It wasn't thrilling.
Dark, emotional, lifetime movie vibes - absolutely. But not a thriller.

Trigger warning!! I thought the book was good but interested to see how they make it a movie. Not sure if I liked it more due to taking place in NYC/ the main line in PA or the fact that it was a good book?

this book broke me into little pieces, stomped all over me, then lit me on fire. jfc if you want to be crushed and disturbed through an incredibly well written, heart wrenching story, the is it homie
it’s like if.. sex and the city, mean girls, and degrassi had a baby, it would be this book.

2.5 stars. This was adult content with YA writing. I'm not sure who I am supposed to dislike the most since there isn't anything likable about any of the characters.
