This was...fine. 

The

cosmic horror

element didn't work for me, and it suffered from poor novella pacing. We just didn't spend enough time being creeped out, so the payoff was like, "oh. okay."

And please. If you tell me your scary thing is an unfathomable horror, do not then immediately describe the least scary thing I've ever read. In fact, you don't even need to describe it. It's unfathomable!
