Meh. There's a real lack if tension in this book. Because we know the story immediately, and from multiple points of view, I was never in a hurry to know anything.

Excuse me, but what even was this? More tropes than I could have ever imagined. To be fair, it's got everything you could ever ask for from the YA genre, the good and the bad. It follows the theme of its contemporary fae novels: teenage Girl has fae heritage, dark and handsome stranger appears, love happens, but what about Girl's human Friend-who-wants-to-be-more-than-friends? I really didn't like this novel, especially not when there are so many other novels in this genre doing a better job of telling an interesting story without off-putting messages and ideas of what relationships are.

I enjoyed the fact that the FMC did not give up what was important to her for some guy. She was strong and level headed and didn’t lessen herself when it came to the main character men.

One of my all-time favorites, a go-to comfort book. The world is so special, the characters are all so strong and perfectly flawed, and the atmosphere is magical and dark and lovely.

Now this is a YA romance I can get behind. Except that I wouldn't recommend it for young adults at all. In fact, besides the main character being in high school, I can't see what's young adult about this novel. If I could tell authors anything, it would be that just because your character is a young adult, doesn't mean the book has to be marketed as young adult. I don't know, maybe I'm just a prude, but I think some things should stay out of YA books. But back to the romance. I really felt the connection between Aislinn and Seth. It wasn't stalkery and scary, and it did make me want to give my husband some love.

As I read this book, I wasn't sure I loved it. I did like it--I thought it was interesting and well written, but there was something holding me back. I didn't care at all for the character Keenan (a fairy who is the summer king), and I felt like I was supposed to. He just didn't seem a likeable character, especially compared to Seth. But as the book progressed, I realized it's okay if I didn't like him. I don't have to always like every character, whether I'm supposed to or not.

I'm not sure what it was about this book that made me really like it. I don't seem to like most of the YA fantasy romances that are out there right now, but there was something different about this one, for me. Something highly enjoyable about it. I would recommend this one, but possibly reservedly.

The title and cover immediately drew me in and the description left me intrigued, so I dove in. While no major action happened, it was a very mysterious storyline that kept my attention. I read it in two nights! The characters were captivating and I was genuinely concerned for them.


My favorite character was Keenan, the Summer King. He is so complex and I have a feeling he has much more going on that we don't know about. I love him and Donia, the Winter Girl. She was also a fun character, complex and mysterious.


The main character, Aislinn, is frustrating. I like her, but she's not my favorite heroine. I like how strong and independent she is; and also making her own choices, even if she fears the consequences.


All in all, it is a cute little story of trust, friendship, and love.
