I think this is the best book of the series so far! We get Momma's story!!! Lucy has lost her husband in a tragic accident weeks before their child is to be born. She raises Melanie and devotes her whole being to her daughter. Now that Melanie and Maddy have their own lives Lucy is on her own. Evan is a sexy retired firefighter with his own fears and heartache. He has moved from Manhattan to be near his brother Joe now that he is no longer working. We still get Maddy, Reid, Dylan, Melanie, Bryan and the rest of the characters. The plot moves beautifully as these characters experience finding love and healing. Excellent story!

The Love Series, is absolutely one of my favorite series! Yes, this book can be read as a standalone, but I definitely recommend that you read the other books, first. If you HAVEN’T read the other books, in this series…please do not read the rest of this review.
If you have read the first 3 books, than you know of Momma! Well this book is about Lucy aka Momma! I have to say she is one hell of a woman, I mean that in a good way! She has been through so much. When you first meet Lucy in the first book, you sorta have this feeling that she has a story, but you aren’t sure what it is. When she was pregnant with Melanie, her husband passed away, 2 weeks before she gave birth. Her husband, was her world. But that didn’t stop her from giving Melanie the best life that she could. She always put Melanie first, and after taking Maddy in, not only did she have 1 daughter, but she has 2 daughters.
The one person, who is new to the story, is Evan! At the very beginning of the book, you can’t help to feel bad for him. He kept blaming himself for an accident that happened, when he was a fireman. Then, he had to deal with some health issues. Years later, well…..18 years later. He moves to the same town, his brother Joe lives in….are you remembering yet? YES! That Joe, you know Reid’s, stepdad? Yeah, that one!!! Well Lucy and Evan, meet at Becca’s funeral (Reid’s mom).
Lucy, is scared to get into a new relationship, because she hasn’t been in one since her husband died. Evan is scared too, he wants to be with Lucy, but not sure how he can be. Can Evan and Lucy, learn to let someone else in, and be scared together? Or will their two different pasts, keep them apart?
Let Love Be, will make you cry, and laugh. But it’s such an EXCELLENT BOOK!!!

ARC RECEIVED FOR AN HONEST REVIEW

Do you believe you can have two big loves in your lifetime?

Let Love Be is a book about love and loss, regret, second chances

We first met Lucy "Momma" Crane in the first book in the series, Let Love In. She lost the love of her life very early in her marriage, and has spent the years being the best mum she can to her daughter Melanie.

Now her daughter Melly and her best friend/surrogate daughter Maddy have moved away and are making their own lives, it is time for Lucy to live for herself.

It is refreshing to read a book about a mature couple. Don't get me wrong, I love the other books in this series, but as someone old enough to be their mother, it is nice for a change to read about characters closer to my age. None of the angsty teen problems!!

Evan Donovan never felt like he deserved a family. New York firefighter to the core, he has dealt with so much heartache over the years, and is still dealing with PTSD from the 9/11 attacks. His fellow firefighters are his family, and for so long is all he felt he needed.

Both Lucy and Evan feel that what they have is enough. But when they meet, they both start to question what they have felt for so many years.

I completely adore Lucy and Evan. They are so different, but so alike, and so perfect for each other. At times I wanted to smack their heads together to make them get themselves sorted out. And I wanted to give them both big bear hugs. There were things that cut right to the heart of the matter that made me want to laugh, want to cry.

We also got more of Maddy and Reid as they prepare to become parents, Melly Belly has her dramas. I also love love love Linda, Lucy's best friend from forever ago. Love her trying to set Lucy up on blind dates. as well as dipping her toe in the dating pool as well.

Ms Collins has created a series that has drawn me in from the first book right up to where we are now. I have become invested in the lives of this extended family group. I have enjoyed watching the characters grow and develop as the series has progressed, and love that we have been given the stories of not just the younger characters but also Lucy and Evan.

Now, I would love to know more about Joe (Reid's step-dad).

I can't wait to see what Ms Collins gives us next!

I put this free download on my Nook because a romance about people my age (kids off to college) sounded appealing. But the sex is just too explicit, and the storyline feels like merely a frame for the erotic main event.

This was the first book I've read that deals with an older couple and I was a little hesitant at first but I am so glad I read this book. Everything about this was just down right amazing. I loved these characters and their story. Evan is by far one of my favorite characters that I've ever read. This book goes to show that no matter what, you're never too old to find love. I just loved this so much because it doesn't deal with the typical drama that you see in most romance novels these days and that was such a refreshing thing for me. This is definitely one of my top reads this year!
