I'm not a J. Crew superfan, but as an elder millennial, I was familiar enough with the brand for this to be an interesting lens into the world of business biographies (is that a thing?). If you're of a similar age, have a strong interest in J. Crew, and/or enjoy reading about the ups and downs of businesses - including the transition from the world of catalogues to stores to the internet - I'd recommend this. It's well-researched, easy-to-read, and drove me to look up a lot of the styles, people, and old catalogue images that were referenced!

DNF. I was J Crews target audience for years and thought I would love this history of the brand but it was waaaay too slow and far to boring to get through.
The cover doesn’t do this book justice. Great deep dive into history and inner-workings of the business of J.Crew. A good read for anyone in marketing, e-commerce, business or those who’ve loved their Schoolboy blazer since they were 15
