At the Bottom of the River by Jamaica Kincaid

Kinkaid's short stories, at least here, vibrate somewhere between dreams, poems, and monologues, exploring island life in the Caribbean as if anything is possible, though without the majesty of such a thing. The magnificent and transcendent are trials and tribulations, and magic seems as tied to weariness as it is to wonder, for life still goes on and makes demands of us all.

What can I say. I enjoyed the physical book and the audiobook alike.
