Memorable quotes;

• “Men want power because it makes them feel good. Women want power because it lets us do things. And imagine, Tisaanah, the things we could do with you."

• If I become lost, I will never be found again.
I will never be found again.

• “You treasure freedom as much as I do. No one desires it more than someone who has never had it.”

Love love loved this book!! The characters, their development, the raw emotions, it was a great fantasy book! With a hint of romance. I enjoyed how the characters got to know each other, and learned little quirks about one another it really gave you a sense of who they are as a person. The moments when they would tell each other “I see you”, I loved that. It was a great touch to bring you further into their world/feelings.

This book was a palate cleanser after several bad DNFs. And my god did it deliver.
Carissa Broadbent has yet to let me down.  Beautifully written characters that change and heal over time, a mid-book reveal, some slow burn spice, and a well done ending that isn’t a full fledged cliff hanger but leaves me wanting more.

Wow wow wow. Carissa Broadbent just has a way of building characters and worlds that are so believable and real and all-consuming. Tisaanah is so endearing and captures female rage beautifully. Max is complicated and refreshing. I just loved all of it. The magic system is really fascinating too.
