masterful

This book absorbed me in from the first few words and didn’t let go! Incredible world billing and character driven plot that was totally heart wrenching and rewarding.

Tisaanah is a great FMC, and Max and Sammerin are really fun and endearing. They all have a fun banter, and I enjoyed reading about them. Nura’s redemption is going to happen, I can feel it. But they’re definitely hiding something.
Zeryth is up to some shady shit tbh and I’m ready to see what happens. Reshaye is pretty annoying though, I get she’s like “scorned” or whatever but it’s a little much. She’s the reason I gave it a 4. I know she’s a major key point but she’s still annoying and she’s not even a real character she’s just a part of Tisaanah. Not a fan of the jealousy crap but I like the magic and world building a lot.

3.75

3.75/4 stars - Read this book of Kayla’s choosing and it did not disappoint! It was outside of my comfort zone fantasy wise and actually helped me learn more about my little dark fantasy reader friend Kayla😄 My favorite aspect of the book was the fact that the gender roles were quite reserved as opposed to other fantasy books I’ve read. The main female character was tough and needed no saving from the beginning and was quite the crutch for the male main character. She also had such insane charisma and what the kids would call ~rizz~. It was a nice change from the Im a badass but still need male love to save me stories that are so common in the fantasy world. Carissa Broadbent gained a new fan today 🤗
