A story that stays true to the biblical narrative and takes into account historical context. I have always been encouraged by Rahab’s faith and willingness to turn her life around and follow God, despite all the wrong decisions in her background.
This book just highlights how Rahab shows great faith in God but trusting God and putting everything, even her family in the hands of the Almighty one. What courage and faith!

I liked that I got a glimpse into Rahab and Samuel's lives (even if some of it was fictional). I like how Francine developed their characters and made them relate-able.
Meh, not very good. This is an imaginative re-telling of the story of Rahab and the battle of Jericho from the Old Testament. Christian fiction is not my usual scene, but I read [b:Redeeming Love|11422|Redeeming Love|Francine Rivers|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1166475085s/11422.jpg|820210] a while back by the same author and was so pleasantly surprised by how fun, enjoyable, and well, good it was that I thought I would give something else by her a go. Sadly, I think this is a good example of what is wrong with so much fiction written for the Christian market-- a real lack of subtlety and complexity, flat characters, lackluster storytelling... Blech. In its favor, this was very short. Two stars instead of one because I would classify it more as mediocre than really bad.

The woman with a past who God has given a future.
How did a gentile marked for death by the rule of the law end up in the lineage of Messiah? The biblical account of Rahab is brief, yet New Testament accounts of the ancestry of Jesus reveal the far reach of her impact and her place of favor in the eyes of God. This story provides a creative guess of the story that led a woman marked by history as a harlot to a place of prominence in the story of Salvation.
Though clearly intended for an adult audience, I was impressed by how tastefully Rahabs past and profession were handled. The emphasis of this story is not her profession but her faith and God's faithfulness to provide a way of escape for an unlikely child.
