The book definitely painted fairies in a different light, which was a change. It was closer to The Spiderwick Chronicles in that way. Overall I thought the story was a bit disjointed and parts of the story seemed unnecessary. While there were mention of the 13 Treasures in a few places I am still unsure what significance they had on the overall story and why the book was even titled that. I was expecting some great storyline with an adventure with a search for the treasures or a puzzle behind the treasures or something along those lines. Disappointing to say the least.
This is a great view of the faerie world where they aren't cute little magical beings. The faeries here can be downright mean and dangerous.
I was quite disappointed by this one. It lacked consistency and a lot of the ideas it was trying to get across were just slightly too complicated to feel natural. It therefore ended up a bit confusing, with too many minor characters, a fantasy world that wasn’t explained enough and shaky motivations. Plus, the reader never really got a chance to care about the characters.

Very straightforward fairy tale with a mystery. Would be great for a 10 year old child.

The book was a good book. The main characters dumb decisions really got on my nerves. Some of the decisions she made seemed forced and out of character by the author to just twist the plot to her favor for a time. It made it hard for me to read. I understand why my students like it. It is fast paced and different. Wish the author would let Tanya be a stronger character.
This was a fairly good book. At times, it got a bit overwhemling, but it was still easy to follow. Some of the time, it seems Harrison was trying to make witchcraft okay, because there is an old lady, Morag, that knows herbs very well and can create magical-ish potions. If there is a sequel, I may or may not read it.
