I liked the book. The plot was interesting. But I didn’t feel connected to it. I don’t know if it was because I didn’t super vibe with the narrator or not. I think I would’ve liked it better if the narrator was different. I didn’t love the fmc being narrator with a male voice. It’s super small but it took me a minute to get use too and I think it’s why I didn’t feel as connected to it.
I really enjoyed this! It was a fun premise, a The Bachelor tv show style competition but in a fantasy world where all the competitors have powers and have to prove their worth. I'd have liked to see more focus on the romance aspect of the competition, in addition to the magic aspect, and it would have been nice for the fmc's relationships with the other girls to develop further - but I still loved the plot as it was, focusing on the fmc's powers, her developing romance, and the world.
I look forward to picking up the other books in this series!

The premise is good, but the writing, while not bad, wasn't great. Everything felt shallow and the entirety of the "competition" the plot was based around wasn't in any way a real competition and was fairly boring. I felt like the there were just convenient filler answers thrown in rather than having the book really fleshed out. The relationship between the main characters developed slowly and was interesting. Overall, it was alright.
Fantastic world and concept but lackluster execution. This is the definition of telling instead of showing. There was no build up to the romance in this or anything that really happened. It was super disappointing because the world was fascinating and the bones were there for something spectacular.
This read was definitely meant for YA audience. There was zero spice. The romance was somewhat of a slow build but not entirely believable. We never really got a motive for the "villain". This book gave me Bluebeard's wife vibes. It wasn't a terrible read and the pacing was slow at times but it kept me interested. I probably will not be reading anymore books in this series. I like my romance to actually have some spice, even if it's minimum. And I prefer to avoid YA books for that reason.

I started this book after DNFing a really really horrible book. That made this book seem interesting at first. The further into it, the more I cringed.
It was so questionable that I almost fully blocked it from my mind and I finished it yesterday.
The romance was boring. The main character was silly. I couldn’t even figure out who the bad guy actually was. Bleh.
Edited to add: four months later, I had forgotten I read this book. Upon reading the summary to remind myself what it was, I promptly made a brother eughhh sound. Moving my starts down.

Such an abrupt ending and so many questions remind to be answered.
⭐️⭐️
One word : Meh!
The storyline was okay but throughout the book I had problem following the story. A lot of it felt rushed. I won’t be reading the rest of the series

I enjoyed reading the book but it wasn’t a favorite, here are my likes and dislikes:
Likes:
-good storyline/plot
-interesting characters
-short and sweet, not drawn out (both a pro and a con)
-fast read, finished in a couple hours
Dislikes
-lack of spice (there is none, only nudity and kissing)
-lack of depth with characters, world development, and storyline
-lack of character development, some characters were given one personality trait, or none at all.
-love blossomed too quickly
-damsel in distress trope (constantly)
-not enough story, things seemed to happen and be over too quickly
-lack of explanations
I haven’t read the second book so maybe some of the murkiness of the plot will be cleared up. We shall see.
Overall, short and sweet little story that was enjoyable, easy to read, and passed the time, even though it was not at all deep or thought provoking.
